Musings of the Program Director - 2010
by Dr. Ronald Craig

2010 was a fantastic year for the walleye and not too bad for the northern pike. As the veteran group spread out over the Lake Vanderkerckhove in search of our finny friends, the newbies in the group looked forward to the bounty of big fish that had been promised. About ½ of the conference attendees caught a master angler fish during their week at Wolverine Lodge. Many of the first time anglers on this lake were counted among the Master Anglers.

This was the 29th annual Cornhusker Canadian Clinical Conference held at the Wolverine Lodge outside of Lynn Lake, MB. The basic nature of the conference has not changed in that the attendees are also the speakers. This year had a strong dose of oncology as internationally known speakers in surgical and radiation oncology brought everyone up to state of the art.

Wolverine Lodge itself is undergoing a constant state of renovation and improvements. The main lodge got a facelift and the lodge and cabins got new roofs a year or two ago. According to Russ Bettschen, the next Bettschen in line to assume management of the lodge, work on sprucing up the cabins and making them more comfortable will start very soon.

Early enthusiasm for next year’s milestone 30th Annual CCCC, to be held July 9-16, 2011 is high. We think the camp can accommodate 30 guests, so we are going to limit enrollment to the first 30 to register. More information on how to register should be on this website or contact me directly.
